Gabelli has increased GAMCO’s holding of Chemtura Corp (NYSE:CHMT) and of Gentiva Health Services, Inc. (NASDAQ:GTIV) stock. During this quarter, Gabelli has been building a significant position in Hittite Microwave Corp (NASDAQ:HITT) and has now reported the closing of the position, as the company was taken private by Analog Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADI) on July 22, at $78 per share. Gabelli and GAMCO held a little over 2 million shares.
Gabelli has increased GAMCO’s stake in Chemtura Corp (NYSE:CHMT) from 6.32 million to 7.27 million shares, which account for approximately 7.58% of the company’s common stock. David Gallo is also very bullish on this stock and has increased his fund’s investment in the company by 56% during the first quarter of 2014. In its latest 13F filing, Gallo’s Valinor Management LLC has reported ownership of 2.32 million shares. Gilchrist Berg, the manager of Water Street Capital, is also optimistic and has slightly increased his fund’s holding of the stock by 2% to 4.76 million shares. Chemtura Corp (NYSE:CHMT) is also on the radar of Stephen C. Freidheim, the manager of Cyrus Capital Partners. Together they hold 2.09 million shares and have made no adjustments to their position during Q1 of 2014.
Gentiva Health Services, Inc. (NASDAQ:GTIV) is another stock Gabelli and GAMCO are bullish on and have increased the holding of. As disclosed in the filing, they have taken their position to 1.54 million shares or 4.19% of the total number of shares outstanding. John A. Levin is also optimistic about the prospects of the company, having increased his fund’s holding by 326% during the first three months of 2014. Levin Capital Strategies reportedly holds approximately 623,100 shares of Gentiva Health Services, Inc. (NASDAQ:GTIV). This stock had also attracted the attention of Conan Laughlin, who has initiated a position for his fund, North Tide Capital, during the first quarter. In its latest 13F filing, the fund indicated ownership of 500,000 shares. David E Shaw also likes Gentiva Health Services, Inc. (NASDAQ:GTIV) and has increased his position by 34% to a little over 427,000 shares.
