Israel Englander’s Millennium Management Loves These Stocks

In the current round of 13F filings, hedge funds and other institutional investors are disclosing their equity portfolios as held at the end of the last year. In its latest 13F, Millennium Management LLC, run by Israel Englander, revealed its holdings for the end of the fourth quarter of 2013.

The total value of Millennium Management’s equity portfolio rose to $31.69 billion in the fourth quarter, from $31.05 billion disclosed for the third quarter. In this article, we will talk about Israel Englander’s top five holdings in terms of value that his fund held in its equity portfolio at the end of last year.

MILLENNIUM MANAGEMENT

The first one is PPL Corporation (NYSE:PPL), in which the fund disclosed 9.12 million shares, with a reported value of around $274.41 million. PPL Corp (NYSE:PPL) is an energy and utility holding company. The fund previously held 8.02 million shares of the company, worth $243.72 million. Earlier this month PPL Corp (NYSE:PPL) reported financial results for the fourth quarter of 2013, posting a net loss of $0.16 per share.

The second position is held by NextEra Energy, Inc. (NYSE:NEE). Millennium Management, revealed holding 3.20 million shares of NextEra Energy, Inc (NYSE:NEE), with a total value of approximately $273.87 million. At the end of the third quarter, the fund held 1.76 million shares. The Unites States based company is an electric power company.

The next on the list is American Electric Power Company Inc (NYSE:AEP), in which the fund now owns around 5.30 million shares, worth $247.93 million. Previously, the fund held 4.44 million shares of American Electric Power Co Inc (NYSE:AEP), with a total value of $192.41 million. The Ohio based company, as its name suggests, is a utility holding company.

CMS Energy Corporation (NYSE:CMS) is in the fourth slot, with Millennium Management increasing the holding to 7.91 million shares in the fourth quarter, compared to 7.11 million shares held previously. The value of the holding rose to $211.74 million from 187.12 million. CMS Energy Corporation (NYSE:CMS) is an energy company primarily operating in Michigan.

Last on the list of top five holdings of Israel Englander’s Millennium Management was the technology giant Google Inc (NASADAQ:GOOG). Millennium Management reported ownership of 162,600 shares, worth $182.20 million. This is a significant increase compared to 90,902 shares, worth $79.62 million revealed as at the end of the third quarter. Recently, the internet company created a buzz, when it surpassed the largest company in the world, Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM), in terms of market capitalization.
