Is a Cheaper Tesla Motors Inc (TSLA) Vehicle Coming Soon?

Despite the fact that many people love what Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has to offer, there are a couple of things standing in the way of making a purchase.

First things first, these vehicles are not available in all parts of the country. Even more so, some states are fighting to keep the company out because of its direct to consumer business model.

Tesla Motors Inc (TSLA)While this is trouble enough for Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA), there is something else to keep in mind: the cost. For many, this is the real reason why cars from this company are not an option.

However, a recent report by US Daily Voice may have people singing a different tune in the years to come.

Here is what the article had to say:

“Tesla electric vehicles with a solid 200 mile range and a price tag below the $40,000 mark will launch within the next four years, according to company CEO Elon Musk. According to the Tesla boss, the next priority for the EV manufacturer as a whole is delivering the company’s undeniable package of quality and performance for a price considered more affordable by the mainstream auto market.”

This is good news on a couple of levels.

First off, the company is working to offer an electric vehicle below the $40,000 mark. This alone is sure to attract a large number of consumers.

Better yet is the fact that the new vehicle will have a “solid 200 mile range.” When you add this with the lower price, it is the hopes of Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) that a broader range of consumers will begin to pay attention.

When can we expect this to happen?

The article states that the vehicle should reach the market by 2017. While this is still four years away, as times goes by there is hope that the company may be able to bump up the release date.

Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk is well aware that the current price structure of the company’s vehicles is not in line with what most consumers can afford. The article added:

“Musk admitted that although the company’s iconic Model S EV is an excellent vehicle in its own right, its high-end price tag makes it largely inaccessible for the masses. He also voice a contrasting example by stating that while the Nissan Leaf carries a more affordable price, it misses the mark in terms of performance and appeal.”

If Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is able to offer a car in this price range that continues to offer the same benefits as its current models, it will be interesting to see what the sales numbers look like. This could be the next big thing for Tesla.
