Microsoft Surface Pro Launch Date: Info on Microsoft Surface Pro Launch, Surface RT

Microsoft Surface Pro Launch Date: Those who have been looking forward to the release of the Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Surface Pro do not have to wait and wonder any longer. According to a recent article by ABC News, the Surface Pro tablet is set to make its way to market on February 9, 2013 at a price of $899.

In addition to the new Surface Pro model that will run Windows 8, the company is releasing a new RT version with 64 GB of storage.

Microsoft Corporation (MSFT)Where can I purchase the new Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Surface Pro?

When February 9 finally rolls around, the tablet is going to be on sale in both the United States and Canada. In addition to the tablet itself, buyers will get a Surface Pen with their purchase.

The company is hoping for better results than its original Surface tablet, as this device disappointed for the most part. Here is a brief excerpt from the same article, explaining the advertising strategy and poor sales:

“Microsoft promoted the Surface launch with massive advertising and marketing campaigns in the U.S. (you might have seen the big billboards or the commercials). However, analysts say they have not seen strong sales. According to The New York Times, which cites a UBS analyst, Microsoft sold just one million tablets in the fourth quarter. (Apple, in comparison, sold three times that in the first weekend that its iPad Mini was on the market.)”

As you can see, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has a lot of ground to make up. The company hopes that its new Surface Pro will be able to carve out a niche that the competition has been missing on.

Despite early struggles, analysts are not giving up on this lineup just yet. Michael Gartenberg, Gartner Research Director, told ABC News the following:

“Given the limited availability of Surface over the holidays and that it runs Windows RT, it’s hard to say how well it really did in the market or make judgments about how well Surface Pro might do.”

In addition to high hopes for the new Surface Pro, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) continues to rethink its strategy for the Surface Windows RT model.

The RT model is hoping to gain more market share by expanding into additional countries in the near future, including: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
