Adam Weiss and James Crichton founded Scout Capital in 1999. Weiss worked at Dan Loeb‘s Third Point as a research analyst before that. He holds an AB in Fine Arts from Harvard College and a joint law degree and MBA from Columbia University. James Warby Crichton III is a graduate of United States Military Academy and Harvard Business School. Scout Capital had around $5 billion in AUM at the end of 2013. |
In early 2014, the fund announced that it will close its doors as Adam Weiss wants to setup a family office whereas James Crichton wants to continue to manage outside money. Scout Capital returned 21% in 2013 and compounded at an annual rate of 14% since its inception.
