“Google’s dominance of the US search market slipping last month by the most since 2009. It got from 79% of the search market to 75%. Yahoo surprisingly guys have gained its market shares,” Liu reported.

Sherman mentioned that Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) has started gaining some shares in the search engine market mainly due to the deal with Mozilla Firefox. This deal has made Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) search engine as default engine for Firefox. Sherman feels that it is very doubtful if Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO)’s search engine would attract many users with its search experience and by the way bump up its share in the market.

Fu points out that the search engine share reported was just for the desktop, and it doesn’t account for the mobile searches. She added that no consumer uses firefox in mobiles and hence doesn’t use Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) search engine in mobiles. Sherman said that there is no need for Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) to worry looking at these numbers. But Liu mentioned that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) need to worry about people getting news from many sources other than Google’s search engine.
