Google Inc (GOOG) Forming Partnerships With Branded Vendors

It is no surprise to most that the Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android operating system is performing so well. It may not get as much ink as its competitors, but it continues to tick along and put up big numbers.

Digitimes Research recently took a closer look at what the search engine giant is up to in regards to its ties with branded vendors. It appears that Google is using these relationships as a means of strengthening its online retail channel.

Here is an excerpt from the piece, explaining Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s approach:

“The launch of HTC’s New HTC One Google Edition and Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S4 Google Edition by Google on June 26 through Google Play highlights Google’s attempt to further strengthen its online retail channel by tying up with branded vendors.”

This is an interesting move for the company, but one that many have seen coming for quite some time. Google has had great success in the smartphone market, with its Android operating system, and this is set to continue well into the future.

Google Inc (GOOG)Along with smartphones, it appears that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is looking for a way to become more involved in the tablet market. This is a natural evolution, being that the company has had so much success with its operating system powering smartphones from numerous companies.

“Given that global shipments of Android handsets and tablets by second-tier and white-box makers are expected to reach 300-400 million units in 2013, Google has also been trying to solicit these makers to have their devices verified by Google, and therefore are allowed to preload Google Play and Google GMS legally in advance.

Second-tier or white-box connected device makers will then become the backbone responsible for the production of inexpensive Android mobile devices.”

We have been hearing a lot about inexpensive Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android devices as of late. For example, cheaper tablets could go a long way in helping steal some market share away from Apple and its iPad lineup.

We are going to keep a close eye on Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) and its approach to both the smartphone and tablet markets in the near future. This is interesting news that could lead to even more intrigue down the line.

For now, we can expect Google to continue with these types of relationships with branded vendors.
