For many years, parents have looked at the summer camp experience as being the same as when they were children. You send your child off for the day or overnight, and they take part in a variety of activities. While there is nothing wrong with this way of doing things, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has some ideas of its own. We know the search engine giant enjoys giving back, and once again this is coming to the forefront.
Here is a brief excerpt from a recent Google blog post, detailing its involvement in a new type of summer camp:
“We’re pleased to have Dale Dougherty, founder and publisher of MAKE magazine and Maker Faire, join us today to talk about Maker Camp—a free, online summer camp for teens on Google+. Last year, more than 1 million campers joined in, and this summer is looking even brighter. Maker Camp will officially kick off at 11 a.m. PDT / 2 p.m. EDT today in a live Hangout On Air from San Francisco’s Exploratorium and will go on for the next six weeks.”
As you can see, this is a simple concept that has picked up a lot of steam in a relatively short period of time. This free, online summer camp is for teens on Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) +. With no cost and a growing number of teens looking to get involved with technology, the excitement based around this “new kind of summer camp” is only going to grow in the years to come.
In the past, summer camp meant exploring the outdoors with friends, arts and crafts, and so much more.
Maker Camp, with the help of Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is a different experience entirely. Here is what you need to know about the camp, including what it offers and how it is organized:
“This is Maker Camp’s second summer, and the format is similar: Each weekday morning, we’ll post a new project or activity on our Google+ page—30 things to make over six weeks. Each weekday afternoon, tune in to a live Google+ Hangout On Air to meet expert makers who create amazing things. And like last year, our Field Trip Friday Hangouts will take you to new places that few of us get to see. For instance, we’re excited to take you to NASA Ames Research Center next week, and this week we’ll be checking out one of the world’s fastest sailboats, from Oracle Team USA.”
There is nothing wrong with the traditional camp experience, however, this is the wave of the future. Maker Camp relies heavily on Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) + to make a nice experience for every participant.
