iPad Mini Shipping: Good News – Apple iPad mini Ship Times Improving

iPad Mini Shipping: Last week, we brought you news regarding the potential for faster shipping times of the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad mini. It appears that this rumor has become reality, as the company’s online store indicates.

At this time, Apple is displaying ship times of 1 to 3 business days for the iPad mini. Last month, the ship range was 3 to 5 business days. Even though this did not appear to be a long time, it was more than many consumers were expecting.

Late last year, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) ran into some serious issues concerning its supply chain. Unfortunately, this slowed things down when the iPad mini was released in November. Even worse, the problems persisted through the holiday quarter.

Here is a brief excerpt from AppleInsider, explaining the background of the story in greater detail:

“Apple saw high demand for the device when pre-orders went live at the end of October, with the U.S. store selling out of the White & Silver model in a matter of hours. The company later announced that the iPad mini sold three million units over its first weekend on sale.”

During the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) quarterly earnings call, CEO Tim Cook did not attempt to hide from this problem. Instead, he made it well known that suppliers were running into issues meeting the overwhelming demand of the smaller iPad. At the time, he noted that things could be back on the right track “by the end of the March quarter.” It appears that this situation may be straightening itself out earlier than expected.

AppleInsider also added the following:

“At the end of January, the ship-by time for all models, including the Wi-Fi + Cellular versions, was quoted at 3-5 days, which itself was an improvement from the one-week estimates seen in December.”

As you can see, things have been getting better with each passing month. Hopefully the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad mini supply chain issues have been dealt with, and the company will now be able to keep up with demand.

It is safe to say consumers will enjoy the fact that the device can be shipped out quicker today than over the past couple of months. It will be interesting to see if ship times stay at 1 to 3 business days or balloon back to previous lengths.
