What Milner says that Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) does is monitors its content very closely to ensure that all users – not just the youngest ones – are not exposed to content that is adult, pornographic, threatening or potentially bullying. But the number of young users might actually grow, and that reduces the chances that all young users will be safe on the social-network site. Howeer, the company insists it won’t hire a third-party firm to conduct content security on the site.

“We apply standards and the idea of having someone outside make those decisions is anathema to us,” he added. “The focus is very much on harm [to users], not offence. We do leave a lot of offensive speech up there, that is true also of a lot of similar platforms.”
