Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is a software giant. There is no denying this fact, as the company has been selling its Windows operating system at a high rate for many years. That being said, the company has lost some steam as of late to competitors such as Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL).

In the smartphone and tablet markets, Microsoft does not have nearly as much power. From the outside looking in, this is where the company has struggled to keep up with the cream of the crop.

While true that many competitors, including Apple, don’t have a game console, this is not Microsoft’s problem. The company has done a great job in this space, and is hoping for more of the same later this year with the release of the greatly anticipated Xbox One.
