Do These Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) Numbers Affect Apple Inc. (AAPL)?

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is a software giant. There is no denying this fact, as the company has been selling its Windows operating system at a high rate for many years. That being said, the company has lost some steam as of late to competitors such as Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL).

Do these Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Numbers mean anything to the Likes of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)?In the smartphone and tablet markets, Microsoft does not have nearly as much power. From the outside looking in, this is where the company has struggled to keep up with the cream of the crop.

This leads to one very important question: is Microsoft performing as poorly in these markets as it appears? While MSFT may not be up to Apple’s standards, a closer look at some stats published on the company’s website goes a long way in painting a different picture.

Key Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Stats

The recent stats published by Microsoft may change your mind as to what the future holds for this company. You may soon realize it is not as far behind the competition, including Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), as you once thought.

Take this statistic, for example:

The Windows Phone Store features more than 170,000 apps and games.

Many people, those who have never checked out this store before, don’t realize that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is making up a lot of ground in this area. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is still the leader, but it is good to see Microsoft making a strong push.

Or how about this one:

Xbox 360 has spent 30 straight months as the best selling game console in the U.S.

While true that many competitors, including Apple, don’t have a game console, this is not Microsoft’s problem. The company has done a great job in this space, and is hoping for more of the same later this year with the release of the greatly anticipated Xbox One.

Steve Ballmer and crew continue to push forward, hoping to make a bigger dent in key markets. Frank X. Shaw, Corporate Vice President of Corporate Communications at Microsoft, penned this piece and it is worth reading.

These hedge fund managers continue to like what they see from Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT): Sandy Nairn, Kelly Cardwell, Jeffrey Ubben, James Litinsky, and William Duhamel.

Do you? Or are you more of an Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) kind of guy/gal?
