Bill Gates Raises Stake in LSE-listed BBA Aviation plc (BBA)

Bill Gates is a major shareholder of the London Stock Exchange-listed BBA Aviation plc (LON:BBA), as a new filing has revealed. Mr. Gates, through his investment arm Cascade Investment and his charitable trust, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Trust, is holding 52.91 million shares of the company, the staking having been recently increased from 46.51 million shares. Mr. Gates owns around 11.6% of the company’s voting rights, according to the filing.

BBA Aviation plc (LON:BBA) is a company that provides aviation services and support to operators of business and general aviation for military and commercial aircrafts. Aside from Mr. Gates, another investor in BBA Aviation is Chase Coleman‘s Tiger Global Investors, which owns 11.4% of the company’s voting rights, according to the company’s 2013 Annual Report. Moreover, Natixis Global Asset Management‘s Harris Associates owns close to 5% of the company’s rights as of the end of last year.

Earlier in August, BBA Aviation plc (LON:BBA)’s subsidiary, Signature Flight Support Corporation, has acquired the assets of Maguire Aviation Group at Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles, the company said in a press release. Following the acquisition, Signature Flight support, which is engaged in aircraft services has extended its facility at the airport with around 1.17 million square feet including hangar, ramp, passenger lounges and office space.
