Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ)’s valuation now largely reflects these developments, and, after a 35% rally over the past 12 months, looks elevated for prudent long-term income investors. Among hedge funds, Adage Capital held a $170-million stake in the stock last quarter (check out the hedge fund’s fourth-quarter holdings here.

What’s the takeaway?

These stocks are tempting, but long-term investors should still be picky, as the appeal of high-yielding high-quality stocks, in some cases, has driven their valuations higher. Please note that AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) and Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) are listed on Citi’s CDS-adjusted dividend stock picks for April 2013, representing stocks with low credit risk and attractive yields. That doesn’t mean that investors shouldn’t also pay attention to Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ), as its growth prospects look like a bullish additive to the stock’s solid dividend yield.
