Apple Customer Base: Are you the type of person who has considered changing smartphones in the past? Maybe you have been a long time Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone fan, but for one reason or the next have been giving thought to making a change. Some people have no problem moving forward, switching from Apple to another company. However, there are just as many who struggle to take the leap.

This was the case with Brian Marshall, ISI Group IT hardware and data networking analyst.

Apple Inc (AAPL)On a recent CNBC segment, Marshall sat down with the host to discuss his thoughts on Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). But they talked about more than that. Instead, the discussion was geared more towards Marshall’s decision to almost switch his loyalty to Samsung this past weekend.

Just the same as many others, Marshall, despite the fact that he is an analyst, has struggled with the decision of whether or not to remain a loyal Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) customer or jump ship and give Samsung a try.

Here is what he had to say as the segment got underway:

“I did feel pretty guilty at the register and I just decided against it, so ultimately, what I want, is a larger format smartphone. Obviously, the high end portion of the market is segmenting towards five inches. The iPhone 5 is clearly a four inch screen. I just want a bigger format for typing, and so I wanted to make the transition but I couldn’t do it at the end of the day.”

Marshall describes a situation that many other consumers have faced. They are ready to make the change from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to another manufacturer and operating system, such as Samsung, but don’t have the guts to pull off the move.

The question is this: he knows what he wants, but still backed away from the change? Was it the other features? Was it the fact that Apple may offer a larger screen in the near future?

Here is more from the same segment:

“Believe it or not, Simon, I got tremendous feedback from investors last night and this morning basically saying the same thing. I want a larger screen as well on my smartphone, but I have got five people in my family, everybody is on iPhone, and I have such a vested install base on Apple products, everything is seamlessly syncing together…”

There you have it. Even analysts, those with a lot of information pertaining to Apple and its products, run into the same issues as everyday consumers when it comes to choosing a smartphone.
