Apple Inc. (AAPL) iPhone Dominating Google Inc (GOOG) Android Devices Socially

The fact that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iOS and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android are the two most popular mobile operating systems is no surprise to most people at this point in time. What may be a surprise is how each one seemingly takes a turn getting the most positive publicity. Most recently, the iPhone has been talked about quite a bit thanks to potential changes (such as this one).

Tim CookShareThis recently published an interesting study entitled: Mobile vs Desktop: A Cross Device User Study

In this study, we get a closer look at both the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone as well as other smartphones, such as those that are being powered by the Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android operating system.

So, which device is known as the “most social?” This honor goes to the iPhone. Here is what the study had to say:

“Users are three times more likely to share content via their iPhone versus their desktop, and 1.5x more likely to share on their iPhone versus all other mobile devices.”

As you can see, when it comes to sharing content Apple is top dog.

The same study goes on to take a closer look at a variety of social sharing related data, including the types of sites used by Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad users. Here is more on this:

“On iPads, the most dominant social channel is Pinterest throughout the day, with Facebook and Twitter following.  Pinterest showed the highest usage contribution at night, while Facebook and Twitter showed relatively higher usage contribution in early morning.”

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android powered devices may not be as popular as those from Apple when it comes to social sharing, however, this trend will likely begin to reverse in the years to come as a growing number of people consider doing this.

The study shows that 12.4 percent of Apple iPhone users are likely to share content, with Google coming in at 7.4 percent followed by the rest of the pack.

This is another interesting study comparing Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) powered devices. For now, Cupertino seems to have the upper hand in this department but who knows how things are going to change down the road. These battles have a way of swinging drastically in short periods of time, so we will be keeping an eye on this story.
