iPad Mini Shipment: Apple iPad Mini Shipments – A Performance Rumor

iPad Mini Shipment: Despite recent component supply chain issues, it appears that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may be back on the right track.

According to a report by China-based CCIDNet, things are looking up for iPad mini shipments. If true, this would be great news for the company as it struggles to regain its footing as a result of an underwhelming earnings report.

AppleInsider shed some light on this rumor, adding the following information:

“Apple’s component supply chain may have managed to resolve supply issues, as new reports out of China have production ramping up for the iPad mini as well as the shortage-plagued new iMac.”

“The report comes by way of CCIDNet, which cited industry source claims that iPad mini supply constraints have been overcome. Those sources expect first quarter iPad mini shipments to reach about 11 million units.”

If the “11 million units” figure is accurate, it is safe to say that the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad mini is selling at a nice rate.

While things may be looking up for the mini, if this report is to be believed the situation with the iMac is not quite as positive.

From the same AppleInsider piece:

“This second report is somewhat troublesome, as CCIDNet‘s account puts iMac shipments at 14 million units for the first quarter, while Apple shipped only about 4.4 million Macs total last quarter. The figure may be the result of a typo or mistranslation.”

As you can see, there are some numbers floating around that are not exactly adding up. While the information may be accurate, the language barrier can often times get in the way of accurate reporting.

Here is a more in-depth look, direct from the CCIDNet article:

“The source said, the iMac product shipments throughout the second half of 2012 are in decline.”

For now, it is difficult to say if some or all of this rumor is true. As far as Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is concerned, the company would likely be satisfied with the iPad mini numbers while not nearly as excited about where the iMac stands.
