When you think about the tablet market, it is hard to overlook one particular company: Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). With its iPad lineup, Cupertino has had no issue staying at the top of this market. That being said, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) are hoping to get in on the action in the years to come (learn more here).

Apple Inc. (AAPL)Chitika Insights does a great job keeping a close watch on the tablet market. In particular, its research goes a long way in showing where each company stands in terms of tablet usage share.

Here is what the most recent research showed:

“Since Chitika Insights’ last study on the tablet market, Apple iPad users’ share of U.S. and Canadian tablet Web traffic has increased by nearly two percentage points, from 82.4% in May 2013, to 84.3% in June 2013 – now the iPad’s highest share since the beginning of 2013. This marks the second consecutive month of iPad usage share gains. Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Samsung’s Galaxy Tablet families remain in second and third place, respectively.”

As you can see, the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad is actually gaining ground.

While Cupertino continues to pick up the pace, tablets from Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) are lingering far behind.

The study shows Google Nexus tablets at 1.2 percent tablet usage share and Microsoft Surface tablets at 0.5 percent.

It doesn’t take a genius to realize that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is completely killing both Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT). Neither of these companies is even within striking distance at this point in time.

Here is more from the study:

“While there are a number of players in the tablet marketplace, Apple clearly dominates the market, further evidenced by analyst shipment estimates. Google Nexus’ month-to-month decline in Web usage may be due to some issues users have been experiencing with older Nexus 7 models, along with increasing interest in the expected release of a new Nexus tablet.”

For now, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is safe at the top. Only time will tell if Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) are able to make up any ground and become a serious competitor in the years to come.
