Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is not taking anything for granted on the iPad front, having suffered a dismal year in 2014 in terms of product sales. IPhone Hacks reports that the Cupertino-based company is using a neat technology to market iPads as one of the ways of offsetting further decline in sales.


Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has resorted to using smart covers to market the iPads to onlookers passing on its retail glass store displays. The displays in the store show iPads with magnetic smart cover opening and closing automatically every few seconds; a function that is being used to demonstrate auto wake/sleep functionality.The new wave of marketing was first spotted on an Apple store in Regent Street London.

The new display format also depicts the various uses of the iPads, effectively catching the attention of onlookers and passersby. It is still unclear as to how the technique works. The latest stunt by Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) comes even as the company continues to grapple with decreased demand of the iPads, much to the concern of Wall Street. It is unclear whether the latest display stunt will attract more sales considering that many people have all along been complaining about iPads specs that are seen to be a bit inadequate.

Had it not been to increased demand of iPhone 6, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s earnings could have considerably been affected as earnings from iPads have been on a downward trail over the past three consecutive quarters. Competition on the tablet front has been attributed to the unexpected underperformance of the line of product. Apple will this year look to rejuvenate this line of product with more interactive and exciting marketing campaigns as well as positioning them as an important gadget for the enterprise space.

It promises to be an exciting year for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), which is also poised to release its much-awaited iWatch. The company is already doing extremely well on the iPhone sales a success it would wish to replicate on the iPad front.
