It was also noted that 42 percent of China Telecom subscribers have access to 3G network speeds, while China Unicom boasts a 31 percent rate, and China Mobile has just 12 percent of its users with 3G capabilities.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) reported that it had sold two million iPhone 5 devices in its first weekend in China, which came in mid-December. Cook announced in the company’s last earnings call that revenues in China rose 26 percent year-over-year, before the iPhone 5 came to market.

“China is a very important market for us and customers there cannot wait to get their hands on Apple products,” Cook said.
