Apple Inc. (AAPL) Continues to Squash This Market Like a Bug

Although we have talked about potential trouble for the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad over the past couple of days, when you look at the tablet market as a whole it is easy to see that Cupertino is not going to give up its lead anytime soon. With a full size tablet, as well as its mini, the company has everything it needs to forge ahead.

While continuing its forward momentum, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), along with many of its tablet competitors, are putting the mobile PC market out of its misery.

Apple Inc. (AAPL)

For more information on this, we don’t have to look any further than a recent report published by IHS: Mobile PC Market Suffers Worst Q2 Performance in More Than a Decade

From the title alone, you can see that the mobile PC market is not in a good place right now. During the second quarter of 2013, it was decimated in large part to the increase in tablet popularity. Even more troubling is the fact that this market is not set to recovery.

Here is a brief excerpt from the piece:

“Battered by the nonstop onslaught of media tablets, the mobile PC market in 2013 delivered the worst second-quarter performance in 11 years, according to preliminary data provided by a PC Dynamics Market Brief from information and analytics provider HIS.

Worldwide mobile PC shipments in the second quarter shrank a steep 6.9 percent compared to the first three months of the year, based on initial findings. This represented the first time the industry experienced a sequential decline since the second quarter of 2002. At that time, mobile PC shipments contracted 3.7 percent after the dot.com bust flattened global demand.”

As you can see, IHS strongly believes that the onslaught of media tablets, such as the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad, has a lot to do with the drop-off.

With all this bad news out there, IHS did offer this one bit of silver in the lining of this story:

“Despite the broad appeal of media tablets, the devices won’t be able to fully replace PCs, and consumers will continue to need the computational power of personal computers.”

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is not doing anything wrong. Cupertino has a winner with its iPad and continues to make it better. It is up to the players in the mobile PC market to make the next move.
