An Ole’ Fashioned Microsoft Corporation (MSFT), Google Inc (GOOG) Showdown

In the tech world, companies are always taking shots at one another. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) are two of the biggest players in this space, and for this reason both companies are always at the forefront of multiple discussions.

An Interesting Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) ShowdownIn this article by Brad Reed of BGR, you will quickly see how Bill Gates feels about Google’s initiative to help  people in Africa use the internet.

While Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) may think it is doing a good thing (and it appears that they are), Gates is not impressed. Instead, he feels that the company’s use of weather balloons to act as wireless networks is silly as it will not do anything to help those who are suffering from disease and starvation.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s Opinion Not Slowing Google

In another article by Brad Reed of BGR, the discussion of the same technology making its way to California in the near future is discussed. It doesn’t appear that the search engine giant, led by Larry Page, cares about what Bill Gates thinks.

Google is moving forward with its strategy to improve internet access via the use of weather balloons. This time around, tests are being run in California’s Central Valley.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) continues to discuss Project Loon, including its benefits and how it can help people in rural areas gain access to the internet.

The company said it is testing the technology in California “to research various approaches for improving the technology, like the power systems (solar panel orientation and batteries), envelope design, and radio configuration.”

In other words, Google is well aware that this technology is not yet perfected. However, unlike Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s Bill Gates, the company sees great value in what it is doing.

At this point, it is unknown when the technology will be available to deliver service in California. What we do know is that the company continues to work on the finer details, hoping to bring internet access to a growing number of people.

Regardless of what the bigwigs at Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) believe, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is doing something good with Project Loon. After all, it is 2013 and everybody in the world could benefit from internet access.
