Twitter Inc (TWTR) Officially Rolls Out Timeline Highlights For Apple Inc. (AAPL) iOS App

Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) has a new feature called “Timeline Highlights” that’s officially rolling out for its iOS app for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) products, the company has announced.

The feature, first seen in the wild last November by industry observers, is essentially a recap of a user’s missed top tweets for the day. Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) also calls the new feature for its Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) app “while you were away…” as the app displays just that once its user opens it again.

“A lot can happen while you’re on the go. To fill in some of those gaps, we will surface a few of the best Tweets you probably wouldn’t have seen otherwise, determined by engagement and other factors,” Twitter writes on its blog.

According to the company, the Timeline Highlights feature will be seen more often by users who less frequently check their Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) on their Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) device. This makes sense since if you’re already checking your feed every now and then, you are less likely to miss something.

The social network says that the goal of the new feature for Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR)’s app on Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) devices is to help its users “keep up” or “catch up” with their worlds whether or not they spend a lot of time on the service.

“With a few improvements to the home timeline we think we can do a better job of delivering on that promise without compromising the real time nature of Twitter. Recaps, marked with a “While you were away” heading, will begin to appear for all Twitter for iOS users today,” the social network announced Wednesday.

It said that the same feature will be made available soon on the Android version of their app and on their website.
