In the face of the China-Taiwan conflict, our national health security is threatened

As China reaffirms the threat of military force to take Taiwan, the whole world has caught its breath and is closely following the course of events.

Taiwan has a total of 55 out of 58 pharma manufacturing companies that are domestically owned and manufacture high value API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) biologics and injectables.

China is a major supplier of a variety of intermediate goods for manufacturing, including APIs, used to produce generic drugs that make up 90% of the medicines Americans take. These are prescription and over the counter medications that are distributed to U.S. hospitals, sold in corner drug stores, grocery store pharmacies, and distributed to military hospitals and clinics.

Outsourcing our drug supply comes at a cost. Over the past decade China has taken over and now dominates the global pharmaceutical industry. The zero covid policy that China imposed earlier this year, resulting in over 70 cities being placed in lockdown and impacting over 300 million people has no end in sight. China leads the list on total volume of pharmaceuticals imported to the US, along with India and Mexico coming in second and third respectively.

The US has virtually zero production capacity when it comes to most of our most common and important medications. In the face of the China-Taiwan conflict, our national health security is threatened.

What can we do to prepare for how this could impact medication availability?

As the world continues to grapple with the seemingly endless attacks on our supply chain, medical preparation is of paramount importance. We have entered a new era of uncertainty many of us have been ill prepared to deal with.

It is now time to take control of our life, and the lives of those whom we care for.

JASE Medical, a telemedicine service, is on a mission to help every family in America prepare medically. The company was founded in 2021, by Shawn Rowland M.D., who during the pandemic experienced firsthand how timely access to medical care and treatment is lacking in our country.

“Prior to the pandemic, I was working in a mid-sized community hospital and every week we would receive a briefing on which medications were in short supply. At the time, I was surprised that in our sophisticated and advanced health care system we would be dealing with shortages of some really important antibiotics and other medications. That led me to do some research and what I found was very concerning.” – said Rowland. “Pre covid most of us in the US felt like we could get whatever we needed when we needed it. But now we know all too well, when the unexpected happens it’s too late to prepare. It doesn’t take much to disrupt and even stall access to life essentials.”

The Jase Case: Providing resilience in this era of uncertainty

Backed by board certified physicians and pharmacists, Jase Medical has put together a convenient, easy to use set of 5 antibiotics that cover a wide variety of common illnesses.

This one-of-a-kind online service provides medical preparedness to U.S. and Canadian residents (and soon also Australian) making sure they have access to life-saving medications to care for themselves and their loved ones during the unexpected. Through a quick and easy online consultation with a board-certified doctor, you can obtain a long-term supply of emergency antibiotics to treat the most common as well as most deadly bacterial infections.

The Jase case contains 5 lifesaving antibiotics, equipped to handle infections ranging from

  • Travelers diarrhea,
  • Wound infections,
  • Prophylactic management of lymes disease from a tick bite
  • Bioterror events,
  • Bladder infections
  • Strep throat

  • And many more

The convenient, easy to read booklet guides you through the process of knowing when and if an antibiotic is indicated.  If you have questions regarding the use of any of the antibiotics, you can send a message to the on-call physician for treatment related questions.

Jase Medical is in the process of adding more medications to their formulary and will be announcing these as they become available.
