Google Inc (GOOG)’s Car: Trumps Human Drivers?

Despite the fact that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) started out as nothing more than a search engine, the company has soared to new heights as of late. From its Google Glass to a driverless car, many are wondering what the company is going to come up with next.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)For the time being, we should not expect to see a driverless car in the near future. That being said, this is something Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is tackling and they want the world to know they should be paying attention.

Believe it or not, there are many who feel that a driverless car from Google would be able to outperform a human behind the wheel. If this is the case, there is a good chance that this technology could eventually make its way to roadways throughout the world.

For a better understanding of this Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) technology, we don’t have to look any further than a recent video posted by Bloomberg: Google’s Car Drives Better Than Humans Can: Review

Here is a summary of the video:

“Udacity CEO Sebastian Thrun discusses Google’s driverless car project and the future of education with Emily Chang from the Bloomberg Link Next Big Thing Summit in Half Moon Bay, CA on Bloomberg Television’s “Bloomberg West.”

While the conversation with Thrun may not be based entirely on this Google project, he had some interesting points to add:

“The project is doing great. We are now driving about four or five years of human driving without any incident. Occasionally we have something on the highway that freaks us out, but other than that it drives better than a human driver.”

As you watch the video in its entirety on the next page, you will realize that Thrun is serious when talking about the Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) car and his opinion that it can drive better than a human.

Here is some more information from the segment:

“It turns out that there is enough technical problems that we don’t feel quite confident enough yet to release it to the public. But Sergey Brin feels that it is going to be less than five years.”

Whether or not this car from Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) actually hits the open roads in less than five years is up for debate. This is a relatively short period of time when talking about technology that would change the world and driving experience forever.
