Where Do Apple Inc. (AAPL), Google Inc (GOOG) Fit Into This Gigantic Number

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) have to be happy with the growth of the smartphone market. Not only does this mean the two companies have positioned themselves appropriately for the time being, but it gives them the chance to do some major damage in the years to come.

How will Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Perform?

Despite some ups and downs as of late, Cupertino will be just fine as 2013 comes to an end and 2014 picks up. The company has a new iPhone coming soon, and as you know, a cheaper variation may be in the works.

Adrian Kingsley-Hughes of ZDNet has discussed the recent cheap iPhone rumors, showing some of the benefits as well as the reasons why this may not be happening.

According to the Digitimes study, Samsung, Apple, and LG are going to be the top three vendors followed by Lenovo, Sony and Huawei.

Obviously, this is good news for Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) thanks to the fact that its Android operating system powers Samsung smartphones. As long as Samsung is at the top, it is going to work in the favor of the search engine giant.

There is no sign of a slow down in the smartphone market. This is the perfect opportunity for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) to separate from the pack.

The question is: which one of these companies will separate from the other? Will the next generation iPhone, and potential for a cheaper iPhone, but Cupertino in charge? Or will Samsung continue to hum along with the help of the Android operating system?

It will also be interesting to see what the Google Moto X brings to the party. This review by Andrew Cunningham of Ars Technica will give you a clear idea of what this new entrant may be able to do for the Android operating system.
