Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) Launches Two Game Changers?

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has struggled to achieve great success in the smartphone market, but this has not stopped the company from trying.

Microsoft is excited about its two most recent releases, which include the affordable Lumia 435 and the powerful (and still affordable) Lumia 532. Both of these devices have something unique to offer, which the company hopes will help attract a new wave of buyers.

Jo Harlow, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) corporate vice president for phones, added the following:

“With the Lumia 435 and Lumia 532, we’ve realized our goal of creating the most affordable Lumia devices to date, opening up the opportunity to reach those people who are buying a smartphone for the very first time. Lumia 435 and Lumia 532 deliver competitive hardware alongside innovative software that will continue to receive the very latest updates and enhancements, keeping users up-to-date with the best new features.”

When Microsoft launched its first Lumia devices a few years back, people wondered if it would be able to survive. Well, those thoughts can now be put to rest. Not only has the Lumia lineup survived, but it has thrived, which can be seen by these most recent launches.

Choices for Consumers

Many companies, such as Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), don’t give consumers much choice when it comes time to buy a smartphone. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) does not take the same approach, with the company offering many smartphones, ensuring that all consumers find what they are looking for.

With the Lumia 435 and 532, affordability and power are at the forefront – and those are both things that users are looking for in today’s world.

Both devices are equipped with the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system, Microsoft Office, a front facing camera, a 1560 mAh battery, 8GB of memory, and 1GB of RAM. Best yet, that is just the start.

Coming Soon

The 435 and 532 will make it to the public in February, starting out in select locations throughout Europe, India, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

While these devices may never be a worldwide hit, they give Microsoft another chance at success in the smartphone market.

There is a lot of hype surrounding these Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Lumia devices, but only time will tell if they stack up with the competition.
