Google Inc (GOOGL) Sells its Devices on the Google Store following Apple Inc. (AAPL)’s Business Approach

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL), the world’s biggest search giant is following Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s approach to business by providing its physical devices to customers through a specific new online store. A CNET article reported on the news and discussed about the new store that Google Inc will be using to sell its devices online.

“As we’ve added more products to the family, we thought it was time to make it easier for you to learn more about them,” Google stated in a blog post.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) sells its software products like mobile apps, music and movies through Google Play Store. On Wednesday, Google Inc has announced the Google Store, which is a website where people can buy its physical products such as Google Nexus smart-phones, Chromebook laptops, Google tablets, Chromecast streaming devices and Nest, which is an internet-connected thermostat Google Inc bought last year.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is following Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s approach to business as the iPhone maker has its well managed and separate online stores for its different products and media. Apple Inc. uses “App Store” for selling apps and “iTunes” for selling music and movies, while the company sells Macs, iPads and iPhones from a storefront on its website. Different companies use different methods of selling their products like Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) sells both hardware and media on its single storefront.

Google Inc has tried to sell its devices directly to people once before as well. In 2010, when Google Inc launched its first Nexus phone, it started a specific online store to sell the phones to people directly but after some time Google Inc. shifted to selling Nexus phones through outside retailers and eventually it began offering its phones on Play Store.

Just like Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), Google Inc has also come up with many new devices in the last few years and so it has lot to offer in its new online store including accessories like chargers and phone cases. For a limited time period as a promotion of its newly launched store, Google Inc will be offering free shipping for the products purchased on the Google Store and people who have recently purchased hardware devices from Google Play Store will have their order information transferred to its new store automatically. This new move from Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) would be a great opportunity for the company to increase its sales as people will be more convenient in finding their devices on a separated dedicated store.
