Many people don’t expect companies the size of Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) to “give back.” Instead, they think these companies are all about making more money. While revenue is always important to the search engine giant, it gives back just as much as any other company in the world. We have talked about this in the past, such as in this story published a few days ago.

Google Inc (GOOG)Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) recently took to its official blog to share even more information on how the company is giving back. As you make your way through this blog post, you may be astonished at everything the company is doing for other people.

Here is a brief excerpt setting the stage:

“Every year in June comes a week where Googlers around the world stop reviewing code, ignore their inboxes and leave their cubicles behind to participate in GoogleServe, our global week of service.

This year, more than 8,500 Googlers from 75+ offices participated in 500 projects. Not only was this our largest GoogleServe to date, but it was also one of the more unique, as many projects were designed to expand the notion of what it means to give back to the community.”

As you can see, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has no problem giving its employees time to give back to others.

This year alone, more than 8,500 Google employees from around the world got involved with 500 projects. This was the largest GoogleServe to date, but it is safe to say that the company is hoping to top this in 2014.

While it would take forever to list out all the projects and details that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) employees took part in, here are a couple:

“In Thimphu, Bhutan, Googlers led a workshop about media literacy at the Bhutan Centre for Media and Democracy helping youth prepare to participate in shaping the future of this young democracy.”

“Googlers from our Hyderabad, India office volunteered at Sri Vidhya’s Centre for the Special Children, helping children who suffer from a wide range of cognitive disabilities to learn how to identify colors, write their own names, and prepare meals for themselves.”

These are just two of the many projects Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) employees were involved with during the month of June.

Companies from around the world, big and small, should take notice of Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) GoogleServe. By giving employees time to give back, the search engine giant shows that it is hoping to change the world for the better.
