Easiest Dollar to Counterfeit and 6 Ways of Spotting Counterfeit Money

6. Counterfeit Pen

Most stores have this nifty little device, designed to detect counterfeited money by simply writing on it. The currency paper US Treasury uses to print money isn’t really much of a paper. It is a mix of cotton and linen (75% cotton and 25% linen), so the pen, filled with an iodine solution, won’t leave any mark on it. However, it will leave a distinct mark on any paper that contains starch, like the one used in printers. The method isn’t definite by any means and there are ways of circumventing it, but it is one of the cheapest tools for detecting counterfeited banknotes on the market today and so widely used that we have to include it on our list. For smaller bills, the ones that aren’t cost effective for counterfeiters to print on expensive paper, it just may do the trick. Come to think of it, strippers should always carry one of this with them when working.
