Intel Acquires Fujitsu Wireless to Expand Its Mobile Capabilities (ArcWeb)
Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) confirmed that it acquired last month Fujitsu Semiconductor Wireless Products Inc. (FSWP), the Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary of Fujitsu that developed an advanced multimode LTE RF transceiver. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) made the acquisition to expand its mobile capabilities. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) reports the move was “very important,” because it gave Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) access to the mobile communications transceiver and design team previously described as probably the best standalone RF team in the world. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) likely would have made such a move to help it win design slots in mobile equipment, such as smartphones and tablet computers. The RF team’s lineage goes back from Fujitsu to Freescale Semiconductor and before that to Motorola’s semiconductor product sector.

The Case Builds for Broadcom as a Value Stock (247WallSt)
Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ:BRCM) is supposed to be a technology and semiconductor winner in the migration to tablets and smartphones and as mobile communication rises. Unfortunately, its shareholders are finding out that this path to victory is not assured and can come with hefty losses along the way. While stocks are very close to all-time highs on the DJIA and S&P 500, shares of Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ:BRCM) are far closer to 52-week lows than to the 52-week highs. This chip player is down and out and severely out of favor, but at some point the value investor crowd is going to have to pay attention here, based on its current share price and valuations. We took a look at this against QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) for a basic valuation comparison.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) Releasing New Optical Interconnect Technology; LSI, ALTR, CRUS, SCTY, HSOL, (FiscalInsider)
Before the Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) Developer Forum next month, Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) and Corning are release a new optical interconnect technology able of 1.6 terabits per second. The firm declared that the Dubbed MXC interconnect is designed to supercharge the interconnection of servers in data center surroundings, where present networking technologies are stressed to continue with the massive growth of cloud computing. The technology might ultimately infiltrate down to consumer devices, although don’t overlook that Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC)’s Thunderbolt interface was initially an optical interconnect called Light Peak, then switched to copper to cuts costs.
