BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY) Uses International Business Machines Corp. (IBM)’s Software in its Tablet Computer

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s Secusmart unit has introduced a tablet computer, using International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM)’s software in Samsung based tablet. A Bloomberg article reported on the news and discussed about the new tablet computer made by Blackberry Ltd which is named as SecuTABLET.

“Together with IBM and Samsung, we’re closing the remaining gap. German federal authorities will have the most modern and most secure communications network in the world,” said Hans-Christoph Quelle, Chief Executive Officer of Secusmart, in Germany’s Security Network.

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) has acquired Secusmart last year with an objective to get more business from users who require rigorous data security. Secusmart is shifting from manufacturing hardware to making security components and software into competitors’ devices because of increasing cyber attacks. Secusmart focuses on making its devices secured and more useful at the same time by installing a small chip-card, which encrypts information that could not be corrupted by any malware targeting the operating system.

Based on Samsung’s Tab S 10.5, the SecuTABLET uses an International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) software technology to cover applications that hold secrets into a virtual container where any malware cannot harm them as they stay protected.

“We do recognize that people actually have a personal life and a business life. We need to be able to easily transfer between those two worlds,” said Lee Epting, Head of Samsung’s European Corporate-Customer Business.

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) has built SecuTABLET targeting towards government and corporate users, which can allow the users to access consumer applications such as Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s YouTube and Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s WhatsApp while keeping confidential their work-related data and secured from spies and illegal access as well.

The tension of managing personal and office related information has been recently highlighted in the news about former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as she was using a single device and a home-based server for both her government work and private conversations. This new tablet computer from BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) that uses International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) software enables its users to keep their official or work related information confidential and separate from private information by encrypting the data and making device more secured to unauthorized and illegal access.
