Big Accomplishment For Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) Windows Store

Last month, we brought you this story about Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) teaming up with Best Buy to bring its products to a greater number of people in physical stores. This partnership appears to provide benefits to both companies.

Now, we have a story that is going to show you just how fast Microsoft’s Windows Store is growing. The store has reached the 100,000 apps mark, which is good news for a company that is trailing its main competition in this space.

Digital Spy dug up this information, adding the following information:

“The online storefront took little more than seven months to hit the landmark figure, having gone live to coincide with the launch of Windows 8 last October.”

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)Does this number disappoint you? Were you hoping Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) would be able to make better progress in a shorter period of time? If you feel this way, you should take the time to see what the competitors have done.

The article goes on to note that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s Android Store didn’t reach this milestone until two years after launch.

What about the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) App Store? Cupertino was able to hit 100,000 iPad apps within 1.5 years.

When you compare Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) to these two companies it is easy to see that it actually reached 100,000 more quickly than both.

Of course, we have to take into consideration the time at which the three online storefronts were launched. Times have definitely changed, with a growing number of people in today’s day and age interested in downloading online apps.

Microsoft is hoping for more of the same in the future, thanks to a facelift to its Windows Store during the most recent Windows 8.1 update. This should only help the service attract more apps in the months and years to come.

Microsoft’s Windows Store may not be as popular as those from Google and Apple, but the company should be proud of how much progress it has made in a relatively short period of time. The future looks bright for this service, and if things continue to move in the same direction we can expect more records to be shattered in the future.

This is a big win for Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) as it continues to fight for market share with some of the biggest names in the industry.
