Best Summer Jobs for Teachers

Sometimes some of the best summer jobs for teachers don’t involve work at all. Teachers work so hard during the school year, they deserve to have summers off! That being said, many chose to work because they want to make some extra money (wouldn’t it be great if we paid them as much as we pay doctors?) and I even know some teachers who work during the summer because their desire to help doesn’t shut down when the temperature goes up.

Summer Jobs for teachers can allow them to continue doing what they love best, or can give them a few months to try something completely different. No matter what, I highly recommend finding something that helps you to recharge your spirit, because that is the most important part of a teacher’s summer break!

Lifeguard

This job really feels like summer. This time of year pools, beaches, and recreation parks all need responsible people to get hired on as lifeguards. If you don’t have the certifications you can take courses from the America Red Cross. I’m not sure I’d want to be in my bathing suit in front of my students, but I know lots of people that don’t think twice about it and LOVE interacting with the kids that are having a great time splashing around.

Tutor

Kids love having months free of studying, but for those that barely passed they are at a huge risk of losing a lot of what they learned over the year. Diligent parents will hire tutors to come in and work with their kids to make sure they aren’t far behind when the school year gets started again, and they are very likely to trust a teacher they already know.
