Apple Inc. (AAPL) Launching New iPhone Repair Strategy in this Country

When you purchase an Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone you hope that it lasts many years without ever breaking. While this may be your hope, you never know what is going to happen. If you are lucky, any repair will be covered by the warranty so that you don’t owe money out of your own pocket. Of course, this is not always the way things work out.

According to MacRumors.com, the company “has launched an iPhone repair pilot program for Apple Certified Service Providers in Canada that will allow certain certified centers to offer iPhone repairs after store technicians have completed Apple-required iOS Certification.”

Steve JobsThis is a big change to the current model that most people are familiar with. Right now, if you are having an issue with your Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone the best thing you can do is visit a local store or try to figure it out on your own.

If the rumor from MacRumors.com is accurate, this is something that Apple users in Canada are sure to be excited about. Along with this, if the repair pilot program is a success in this region it could reach many others in the months to come.

According to the source, these third party service companies will be able to repair everything from the battery to the camera and much more. While the program is not set to launch for another couple weeks, it is safe to say that all the behind the scenes work is already moving forward.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is not going to trust just anybody to provide repairs. Instead, technicians are required to pass an iOS qualification exam along with attending multiple training sessions showing how to disassemble the iPhone without incident.

Once again, it is important to note that the program is limited to Canada at this time. A successful pilot could ultimately result in more of the same in other parts of the world, which would be a big step forward for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) when it comes to how iPhone users go about getting repairs for their device.

Here is the program overview goals, as posted by MacRumors.com:

“1. Provide APR with authorization to provide iPhone repair service to walk in customers as alternate channel
2. Provide same service level for iPhone as our Apple Retail Stores
3. Reduce proliferation of unauthorized repair centres and third party parts”
