Apple Inc. (AAPL) Isn’t Taking Any Of This Lying Down

More than a click away
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) being the savvy tech company that it is, isn’t taking any of this lying down. To protect itself from competition, Apple sets Safari as the default iOS browser and doesn’t allow other apps to claim that spot. Apple also keeps the faster Nitro JavaScript engine for Safari only, and requires other browsers to use an older engine. Chrome and other browsers can find ways around this, but it definitely gives Apple the immediate advantage. On top of all that, many apps like Facebook and LinkedIn display webpages within their own apps, which reduces web traffic for browsers like Chrome.

Though Chrome is making gains on the iOS platform, some of that may change once Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s new iOS debuts next week, which will come with a redesigned and faster Safari. For the immediate future, it seems Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) will still have to shell over those traffic acquisition costs, but investors should keep an eye on any changes in Chrome’s share of iOS browsing. Google isn’y likely to give up its efforts to dominate every part of mobile it can and you can be sure Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will do everything it can to keep Safari as the top iOS browser.
