iPad for University: Apple iPad Becoming More Popular for University Learning

Apple Inc. (AAPL) to be Added to Several WisdomTree ETFsiPad for University: The University of Western Sydney in Australia is making a big change to the way its students will learn and faculty will teach. Starting in 2013, the university has plans to distribute Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad tablets to approximately 11,000 students and faculty.

As reported by The Australian, this massive technology based addition is going to change the way students learn. At the same time, it will give faculty the chance to improve as well.

Professor Kerri-Lee Krause is quoted in the article as saying:

With digital technology revolutionizing how we connect and interact with the world, university study should be no different.

In other words, with so many people using the iPad from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), it only makes sense that the technology reaches the university level.

The report goes on to discuss just how important tablets are becoming in the field of education:

Education is emerging as a major sales battleground for tablet computers, with both Apple and Samsung targeting the market. Apple has been heavily promoting its iBooks Author software for creating digital text books and other curriculum material.

As you can see, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is looking to make a dent in this market. Not only is the company selling a large number of tablets to universities throughout the world, but in the near future there is a good chance that more institutions will begin to create digital text books.

What is the point of implementing this change? Why has such a large university decided to make this purchase in a time of economic uncertainty?
In short,…
the university is looking for a way to offer “more flexible study options for students and a blend learning model” well into the future.

Krause added:

Over the next couple of years UWS will challenge some of the traditional lecture-style presentations by including more of the interactive learning that students value so much.
Mobile technologies will be a key part of this strategy. We want to support our academic staff to make the most of iPads and custom-designed apps in class so that, even in the largest lecture theatre, students have access to just-for-me, just-in-time interactive learning experiences.

With six campuses throughout Greater Western Sydney, students all over the area will be using an iPad to learn. With free Wi-Fi available at all times of the day, on all campuses, students will always be in position to connect to the internet.
